Looking for something different - come see us at the submarine in Port Burwell. We are open noon till 4 pm Saturday and Sunday - February 25th & 26th. It can be chilly in the sub at this time of year so dress warmly.
Start off the new year with something really special. We are open from noon till four Saturday and Sunday. Looking forward to showing you through this awesome boat.
HMCS OJIBWA is planning to be open Saturday & Sunday Jan 28 & 29. We are in the process of confirming staff so check back later in the week to confirm.
Our hours will be noon till 4:00.
Dress WARMLY as there is minimal heat on the boat. We find hand warmers a great asset.
Think of it as your chance to experience what it was like in the winter in the North Atlantic!!!
Seriously - Ojibwa is phenomenal at any time!
As always, opening in the winter is subject to weather i.e.,- being snowed out rather than snowed in!
HMCS Ojibwa has been open all weekend and we are open Thanksgiving Monday too - noon till last tour goes at 4:00.
A great autumn day at the Submarine. It was one of those days where the sky was a deep bright blue and the puffy white clouds hung low over Lake Erie and occasionally black clouds floated through the white ones - very dramatic and beautiful. The trees are just beginning to turn here and the drive down was lovely because the green trees were punctuated with bright colour but it was clear that it was just beginning and winter is a long way off. The fields around Port Burwell are full of pumpkins and squash. The wind was from the south today so there weren't many birds about - except for seagulls.
At last the new website with a focus on HMCS Ojibwa as part of a Museum is now up and will replace the old Project Ojibwa website which can no longer be updated. This new platform is not all that we hoped it would be but time ran out on what our Summer Assistant could accomplish and this platform does do things such as videos that we could not do before. We hope you enjoy it and can bear with us through the remainder of the transformation. The new Elgin Military Museum website should be available early next week.
