Timing your Tour
Tours are requested to arrive no less than twenty minutes before the start time of their tour so they can use the facilities if required and be divided into appropriately sized groups. In the shoulder seasons, jackets, gloves and socks make for a more comfortable time aboard. We remind operators that children under the age of six are not permitted on HMCS Ojibwa but they are welcome to take the Fish Eye tour if accompanied by an adult. We are happy to make arrangements for group tours outside of our regular hours as well. One of our staff will be happy to help you find the best date and time for your tour.
Regular Staggered Start Tour
Total time for a coach tour varies with the number of groups (10 people/group) that need to get through the boat. In order to accommodate five groups in a staggered-start tour, the tours must include a tour element of the exterior. The last group (5 in this sample) will end approximately 12 minutes after everyone else. Don’t forget your bus driver. He must be included in your numbers even though they are not included in the price.

Shotgun Start Tour
For those on a tight schedule, we have developed the Shot Gun Tour. It is only available before noon. For this tour, visitors are divided into groups of ten. The whole group enters the boat at the bow end of the boat and walks directly forward to their particular starting point. This enables the tour to finish the tour of the interior in 64 to 70 minutes. Each section consists of a ten minute explanation followed by two minutes to move forward.
What's the Difference?
|
On staggered-start tours, all groups start at the bow of the boat (Forward Torpedo compartment) and proceed through the boat to the After Torpedo compartment. A shotgun-style tour has the entire coach party start on the boat; however, they will be divided into groups of ten that start in different places. This means that only the last ten people start in the Forward Torpedo compartment and proceed directly through the boat. All other groups must exit the After Torpedo Room and walk along the outside and re-enter the boat in the Forward Torpedo compartment and proceed through the boat (passing quickly through those spaces they have already seen to exit the boat from the door in the After Torpedo compartment).
Payment
Although you should try to book ahead of your tour date as much as possible, minimum payment will be based upon the number of people confirmed four days prior to your visit to ensure that we have the appropriate number of tour guides available. Thus, if you arrive with fewer people, the price does not go down. However, any additional people will be added to the price. A cancellation fee in the amount of $50.00 will be charged for group cancellations within 72 hours of the booked date. If your numbers increase, please let us know as soon as possible. Be sure to include your bus driver in the total number.. We do not charge the driver but we need to allocate them to a group.
