Submariner Tour*

Enter the heart of the submariner's world.  Be prepared to be boggled! There are over a half a million parts on the boat. From the towering space of the forward torpedo compartment to what is euphemistically known as the ducks ass end of the boat,  secrets of our cold war warrior will be revealed - including the stinky ones.  There is a reason why at least one wife made her husband ride home in the trunk when he arrived home from a mission.

Ojibwa was a spy; reputed to be the best  in her class; the allied submarine most detested by the US Navy who were never able to find her in war games unless she purposely made a noise.

Adults (13 and over): $24.75
Children (12): $14.75
Prices include taxes

AT THIS TIME CHILDREN UNDER TWELVE ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE SUBMARINE

X-RAY TOUR

When just looking through the fence is not enough, try exploring the exterior as if you were a fish swimming alongside under the sea - a fish with X-Ray vision!  It takes approx. 45 minutes to an hour - and it's jam packed with things that will make you shake your head because they are almost unimaginable. This is definitely not just a walk around the boat.  You will soon discover why submariners have special skills when it comes to being in lock down mode!  This tour is geared to those  eight years old and over.

Our specially trained guides explain what made these diesel-electric Oberon Class submarines some of the best hunter/killers of their day and also how she was moved onto the site.

Adults (13 and over): $15.00
Seniors $12.00
Children (8-12): $10.00
Prices include taxes

At this time, children under twelve are not permitted inside the submarine (see COVID NOTICE). Children 8 to twelve are only permitted on the X-Ray Tour and children under eight are not permitted on either the inside or outside tours . The X-Ray tours are more technical than the previous Fish-Eye Tour and social distancing requirements do not permit young children to wander when they lose interest in things they don't understand.

Or, dive deeper... Currently under covid REVISIONS

...with the "Greater Depths" Tour*

This unique three-hour tour  is for the person who wants to see more, ask more, and do more than they can on the regular Submariner's Tour.

Every tour will be led by a team of qualified submariners who are there to guide you through the submarine, answer your questions, and explain how things work. These exclusive tours are for the "hands-on" visitor who wants to learn how to open and close the torpedo tubes; start the engines and activate the snort intake and exhaust; experience ultra-quiet mode; or get into the one-man-control to learn how to "fly" the boat. A light meal will be served in the Chiefs and Petty Officers' Mess.
Each participant will receive a special certificate and souvenir. While this tour is currently being revised to meet the COVID restraints, they usually run from 6 pm to 9 pm on the chosen date. Book your tour now by calling the museum at 1-519-633-7641 or email curator@elginmilitarymuseum.ca
