This on-line booking service reserves your time and number of spaces. The time of your tour may vary a bit on very busy days. Payment is made when you arrive. Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled tour time. Should you arrive late, we will do our best to get you on if we are not fully booked.
The HMCS Ojibwa The Museum website will keep you occupied for a while. This site deals with the historical details and artifacts along with fabulous explanations of how things worked written by former submariners. Along with 'how it works', there are some hilarious dits (stories) about life as a submariner written by those who called submarines home.
So, there are two websites relating to HMCS Ojibwa - one dedicated to Tours (the site you are on now) and the other we refer to as The Museum which contains background materials for those who want to know more about the Silent Service. Our updated Elgin Military Museum website is accessible at www.TheElginMilitaryMuseum.ca It covers from the end of the 17th century to today. There are many first person accounts of those times that will astound you with the amazing connections this part of Canada has with the rest of the world and the leadership role played by so many of our neighbours both past and present.
Some of you will be familiar with our old websites www.projectojibwa.ca and www.elginmilitarymuseum.ca. We struggled with some technical difficulties which did not permit us to update those sites. Now, we have updated these sites to a new platform reached via the orange links above. You will have access to the archived sites for a while while we continue to migrate some of the highlights to the new sites.
The photo of the day was the most popular feature on the Project Ojibwa site. After running almost every day for four years, we just don't have access to enough new images to continue on that scale. Look for something similar on our News page which takes the form of a blog so those so inclined can add their personal observations to the mix. This will become more active once the other sites are populated to a higher degree and we have more time to devote to this page. |
About SubmarinesFollow this link to discover a lot about the submarine and a little about that rare breed of men who commit their hearts to these black beauties. To earn their dolphins they must be able to go through the boat blindfolded and execute any order from the CO. They must also be able to draw diagrams of all the operating systems illustrating how each of them functions.

'Pirate' Dits
Enjoy the irrepressible good humour in stories written by submariners. Start with Standby to M-Bare-Ass .or Buoys will be Buoys by former Chief Petty Officer Jim 'Lucky' Gordon. Feeling drowsy? Dream a dream with former sonarman, Dave Anderson. Pull up a bollard and make yourself comfortable while Lucky and others spin a dit.

Submariner's Life
The view from the inside as told by submariners themselves - at times humorous, sometimes intriguing for what they imply, always a superb incite into what it takes to wear the dolphins of a Canadian Submariner.
